As Hurricane Harvey wreaks havoc in Texas and prepares to hit Louisiana, we wanted to offer a note of support. We pray that all of you, your loved ones, and your dear animals make it to safety.
To those facing the loss of their belongings, homes, and communities, we stand with you. Know this: the rain will stop and the sun will shine bright again. For now, please stay safe; you are irreplacable.
We are eternally grateful for the first responders. And also for volunteers from all parts, fellow Americans making relief donations, international neighbors sending aid, and everyday Texans and Louisianans who are rising up to help overcome this disaster.
There’s much work to be done now and well into the future in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
When others take a seat, we’ll still be standing. We’ll lean in, shoulder to shoulder and get it done together.
Here’s How You Can Help with Hurricane Harvey
- Text “HARVEY” to 90999 to make a $10 donation to the Red Cross.
- Donate to the Houston relief fund, set up by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
- Houston Humane Society, San Antonio Humane Society, Austin Pets Alive, the ASPCA, and the Coalition for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals can use donations as they evacuate pets. You can also offer to foster or adopt pets from south Texas as shelters will quickly start filling past capacity.
- Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group helps with long-term needs of individuals in disaster areas.
- The Texas Diaper Bank serves overlooked needs of infants; many evacuees have few or no diapers for their infants.
- Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Blessing have teams on the ground offering support, showers, food, water, and cribs.
- Dallas Gateway Church has a crisis relief program you can donate cash or goods to, or sign up to volunteer with.
- Portlight is a disaster response group focused on people with disabilities.
- Donate cash to affected food banks: Houston Food Bank, Galveston Food Bank, Corpus Christi Food Bank, Southeast Texas Food Bank, Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Brazos Valley Food Bank, Central Texas Food Bank.
- List your home on Airbnb for refugees; especially helpful for those with pets who will not be allowed in other places.
- Donate blood at your local blood bank.
